Way back when Kevin and I first started going to comic conventions and store signings, we quickly learned that quite a few people wanted more than our quickie Turtle head sketches -- they wanted full TMNT sketches -- more people, in fact, than we usually had time to accommodate. So for a few years we started doing sketches before going to shows so we would have some ready for those fans. We each did quite a few of these, and made copies of a lot of them. They were usually portraits of one of the Turtles, though occasionally we did group shots. Sometimes we even collaborated on these sketches, one of us penciling and the other inking. Here's one of mine from 1986, a shot of Donatello on a rooftop, with what I suppose is the moon behind him. |

03/07/04: I can't remember what the number of the last WooHoo! was... maybe I'll try to look it up later. But I wanted to quickly post this preview sample page from an upcoming TALES OF THE TMNT comic, written and drawn by Jim Lawson and inked by yours truly. Jim is doing something very cool with this book -- he's drawing it entirely in the new "silhouette" style that he has experimented with in some TMNT comic panels and a short PALEO story. I think it's a really neat new look and it suits this story perfectly. On another TMNT comic note, I'm currently finishing up the tones on the art for issue #15, and will be putting the book together to go to the printer sometime in the next few weeks. So, if you want to send us any letters for consideration for the letters pages, this would be a good time to do it. Letters about the comic are most appreciated, but I'll certainly look at letters about any other aspect of the TMNT... or even life in general. And I'll consider positive and negative criticism/commentary, as long as it is intelligently presented. -- PL |
