PETER LAIRD'S
Design for "Wacky Ooze Buggy" toy

This is a neat design that Jim Lawson drew in 1994 for consideration as a TMNT vehicle for the original toy line. It never got made, but I think it would have a had a lot of "play value" -- especially if there had been something designed in so that you could make the vehicle spray ooze as you pushed it along. Or maybe not -- that probably wouldn't have gone over well with parents.

Woo-Hoo! #6

Today I got my copy of the finished third episode of the new cartoon series which will air for the first time this Saturday... and I'm planning to watch it after I get this BFTP finished and posted. I've watched the rough version several times, but it's always a treat to see what the wizards at 4Kids Productions have done with music and sound effects.

Last week I watched the unfinished (voice only) episodes 4 and 5, which were both a lot of fun. Episode 4 introduces Casey Jones in a story closely based on the original RAPHAEL Micro-Series published by Mirage Studios. And in episode 5, which is an all-new story, Casey and April meet for the first time, and we get to see April's "Second Time Around" antique shop.

I also received a bunch of new photos of the finished maquette sculpture of Leonardo for the planned Hallmark two-part TV mini-series. All I can say is -- WOW!!! If the Turtles in this live action TV movie look this good, I will be VERY happy. I hope to be able to post some of these photos soon. This week also saw the arrival of the latest draft of the script for this project and it's looking good.

Dan Berger just put the finishing touches on the Quark files for the second printings of TMNT Vol. 4 issues 1 and 2, which should be shipping next month. Anybody who missed out on these books, watch for them in your comic book store!

I'm putting together the letters pages for issue #9, and encourage anybody who has something they want to say about the Turtles to write in.

Finally, I thought you might like to see this solicitation information for TMNT issue #10 (shipping in June) which I just sent off to Diamond Comics last week:

TMNT#10

This special giant-sized issue, with sixty pages of story, joins what would have been issues 10 and 11 of TMNT into one compelling chapter of the TMNT saga.

A desperate, epic battle to save April’s life rages, pitting NanoBaxterbot against NanoTurtlebot... the mysterious Xihad strikes... and in the end, death comes to a beloved member of the family.

60 pages, black and white, $3.95 US/$5.50 Canada
