I just found this photocopy of a penciled piece I did back in 1992. It's signed by me "To Sam" -- I'm not sure who Sam is. I think this may be the only drawing I've ever done which pairs one of the Turtles with a character from a Funatix! property, in this case Frostbyte, the leader of the Barbearians. (In case you don't know -- Funatix! was/is a toy concept and design group made up of most of the Mirage dudes: me, Mike Dooney, Jim Lawson, Eric Talbot, Dan Berger, and for a while Steve Lavigne and Craig Farley. Ken Mitchroney was also one of the founding Funatix! members, but problems due to geography -- Ken lived in Florida at the time -- led to his leaving the group early on. We worked on a bunch of different concepts, but Barbearians was one of the first and the most fun.) -- Peter Laird |

| Just a note to anyone who was thinking about writing a letter of comment, praise, and/or criticism to us re: the TMNT comic book (issue #7 just came out in December): I'm finishing up the lettering for issue #8 and will be putting the rest of the book together shortly, so it would be a good time to send us those letters. Email is preferred.
Also... today (January 6, 2003) we got some cool stuff from Playmates -- samples of the limited edition Leonardo cold cast sculpture and the new cool "Battle Shell" vehicle from the TMNT action figure line. Playmates rocks! I snagged a few and took them home with me, where I took the photo below. |
