These two wacked-out evil mutant animal characters I drew sometime in the late 1980's as part of our continuing effort to help Playmates Toys flesh out its TMNT action figure line. I have NO idea what possessed me to combine a lynx with a cyborg and add football to the mix, but I think it could have made a cool figure. "Oscar" the mutant snail guy was a character I hoped would get made -- there's just something about him I like (I think it's his elegant bilateral symmetry). But neither of these dudes made it onto the animated show or into plastic form. Maybe I should re-submit them to Playmates for the NEW action figure line...! -- Peter Laird |

I apologize to everybody for being so late in updating the Blast page, but a combination of being REALLY busy with the comic and the new TV show and a weird and confusing problem with my being unable to upload to the site caused me to fall WAY behind. However, I am going to try to keep up with it from now on. At least I'll give it my best shot!
Anyway, I thought you might like to see this -- it's a photo I took in a store in Northampton a couple of months ago. The store, run by an old friend of mine who deals in memorablilia, had this hanging on the wall. My friend said he had traded some books for it at the San Diego comicon several years back. This is one of the fake posters the Mirage crew made as set dressing for the proposed (and filmed, but not used) ending for the first TMNT film, a scene in which April and Danny go to a comic book publisher with their idea to do a comic book about these teenage mutant ninja turtles -- and get rejected. This is one that I did by myself, using as the subject the character of Doctor Dome (and a couple of his "Domeoid" robots) from issue #15 of the original TMNT comic series. --Peter Laird |
