My good pal Ryan Brown realized a longtime dream of his when, back in the 1990's, his "CowBoys" concept was made into a toy line, animated series, and a whole bunch of merchandise under the name "Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa". I drew this piece featuring Donatello and one of Ryan's characters, Montana Moo, as the basis for a congratulatory card for Ryan. (Montana Moo and © 2002 R.E. Bee Inc.) -- Peter Laird |

Some of you may have heard about the limited edition coldcast TMNT statues from Playmates Toys which are going to be released over the next year. Here's an advance look at one of the preliminary sculpts for this new project. Based on the look of the original Mirage comic book Turtles, this is Leonardo, and his pose -- like those of the other three figures in this proposed set of four -- comes from the first page of the first issue of TMNT. If you have that book, compare the art to this sculpt -- I think it has captured the look of those early Turtles very well. (Ignore what Leo is holding -- that's just a sculpting tool.) |
